Code1079 - The following rule is to be observed by the constabulary in wearing medals. Medals awarded by the sovereign, constabulary and military are to be worn on the left breast only. Medals awarded by the Royal Humane Society; by the Chapter of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, and by the Royal National Life Boat Institution, for saving life; and by the Royal Society for the Protection of Life from Fire, are to be worn on the right breast.
Code1080 - When men distinguish themselves by gallant and meritorious acts so as to merit the award of medals from the above-named societies, such medals should be presented to them either on parade by the County Inspector or on a suitable public occasion.
Code1081 - All medals authorised by the Regulations should always be worn by both officers and men whenever they appear in full dress with tunicts. Medals are never to be worn with the frock, but a riband, half an inch in depth, should be stitched on the left breast of the frock, the upper edge of which riband should lie on an imaginary line drawn across the breast, from the centre of the arm-hole to the button edge of the frock and midway between the same. No riband should be stitched on the , care should be taken that the riband is put on straight.
Code1082 - The following is the order in which medals worn by the Royal Irish Constabulary on the left breast are to be placed ,the first medal being placed farthest from the left shoulder:- (1) Queen Victoria's Commemoration Medal, 1900; (2) King's Medal, 1903; (3) King's Police Medal, 1909; (4) Constabulary Medal; (5) British War Medals, beginning with the first obtained.
Code1083 - Holders of medals are allowed, on retirement, to carry those marks of distinction with them as an honourable testimony of meritorious public service.
