1203-Reading - Unrestricted
Members of the Force are not restricted from the reading of such books or other publications as they may think fit, provided they are not offensive to morality, or loyalty, or subversive of discipline.

1204
But having regard to the non-political character of the Royal Irish Constabulary, it is essential that violent party organs should not be introduced into barracks. This also applies to publications which
endeavour to create dissension amongst members of the Force or which attempt to disparage the reputation of The Royal Irish Constabulary.

1205-Reading aloud
No publication, however moderate or respectable it may be, shall be read aloud or commented on by any policeman within the barracks or on the barrack premises, in opposition to the expressed
wishes of any of his comrades. ( See also sections 180 and 487.)
