1537.Recommendations for Reward. Whenever a member of the Force has shown exceptional zeal,intelligence or ability in the discharge of his police duties,or has shown exceptional courage,involving the risk of his life in the cause of humanity,or in the interests of the public,the case should be reported to head quarters.Such reports will be laid before a Reward Board composed of the superior officers of the Force,who will carefully weigh and consider the merits of each case and submit their opinion for the decision of the Inspector General.
1538.Favourable Records. Favourable Records granted by the Inspector General will be inserted in the half-yearly sheets and promulgated for the information of the Force.They should be recorded in the County Register and quoted in all forms when the case of the member of the Force in question is under notice.They should be duly considered when recommendations for promotion are made.
1539.First Class Favourable Records. Favourable Records of the first class are awarded only in cases where officers or men have shown,in the disharge of police duties,exceptional zeal,intelligence,or ability,exceeding that which is to be expected from zealous and efficient members of their rank with similar opportunities. Such records are invariably accompanied by grants from the Constabulary Force Fund.
1540.Second Class Favourable Records. Records of this class are awarded for acts of bravery,involving the risk of life in exertions to save life,or for other exceptionally courageous conduct,and they may be accompanied by pecuniary rewards.
1541.Third Class Favourable Records. Records of this class are awarded for the specially good performance of police duty, in cases where the zeal,intelligence or ability shown is not of the exceptional character essential for the grant of a First Class Record,but which exceeds that which is to be expected from zealous and efficient members of the rank of the persons concerned,with similar opportunities.
These records may also be accompanied by grants from the Constabulary Force Fund. The County Inspector should not submit any recommendation for the consideration of the Reward Board under this section unless he is satisfied that the merits of the case would not be sufficiently met by the grant of a Local Record.(See section 1543.)
