John Murphy No.45061, enlisted at 19 yrs 10 months, born Cork WR, recommended by Sub Inspector William St. Lawrence Tyrrell, occupation Farmer, appointed 8 Dec 1879, Pensioned 23 Dec 1906, Source: Royal Irish Constabulary Register-Extract.
On the original register there are other Service numbers
listed in connection with such things as transfers, pensioning, and marriages.
One of his Commanders (not sure of the term for a superior) at either of his
first two duty stations, Galway WR or Galway EA, is supposed to have eventually
become his father-in-law, who I believe to be John Craig/Craige, possibly James
Craig/Craige. I am still searching for this man. John/James Craig was either
born in or stationed at Tipperary NR when his daughter was born in 1863. I am
hoping to fill in all the details by viewing the original records on LDS Films,
however, if anyone has access to the information, I would be very grateful to
receive it. I will post any record information I find in connection with this search when I have it. Thank you all.
