Hi I'm trying to trace information and service number of Joseph Sammon. I believe he was born in about 1868 in Longford.
From the 1901 Irish Census I know he was a RIC constable living in Mitchelstown, Cork. Hope someone can help Regards David Appleyard |

Only one Joseph Sammon, as far as i can see served in the R.I.C., and he was Constable Joseph Sammon,51625, and his date's fit .

I was at the National Archives in Kew on Tuesday and the information you require is as follows; Name: Joseph Sammon Service No.: 51625 Microfiche Number: HO 184/27 Age on appointment or date of birth: 22 years and 2 months Height: 5’ 8” and a quarter Native County: Longford Religion: Catholic If married date of marriage: 7th Jan 1893 Native County of Wife: Limerick By whom recommended: H C Allen Trade or Calling: Letter Carrier Appointment/ Reappointments: 21st Dec 1885 Allocations: Limerick 10th July 1886 Cork 19th Feb 1893 Left the Service & Reason: “Discharged 27 Oct 1901”
