Monaghan R.I.C. Cycling and Athletic Club,
The annual shooting competition in connection with the above club was held in the demesne at Ballybay on the 20th october.
   Eight prizes were offered for competition in which 33 competitors took part, conditions were 7 rounds standing and 7 lying.
1st prize, a pair of bicycle tyres,was won by Constable Harken,Monaghan,who,with a handicap of 10 points added, scored a total of 46.
2nd prize,a bicycle lamp,was won by Constable Hanrahan,Monaghan, who with a handicap of 14 add,scored a total of 45.
3rd prize,a gents dressing case.won by Sergeant Duffy,Monaghan,who,with Head Constable Sheridan,Carrickmacross,tied with a total score
of43 each, but on a toss the former secured the prize.
4th prize,a silver cigarette case, won by Head Constable Sheridan, Carrickmacross, who,with a handicap of 7 added, scored a total of 43.
5th prize,an eight-day clock,won by Acting-Sergeant Graham,Monaghan, who tied with Constables M'Dermott,Newbliss,and Murray, Stranorden,
but on a toss the first named secured the prize.
6th prize,a silver ink stand, won by Constable M'Dermott,Newbliss,who with handicap of 9 added, scored a total of 42.
7th prize,a silver mounted walking stick,won by Constable Murray,Stranorden,who with handicap of 8 added,scored a total of 42.
8th prize,a pipe,won by Constable Campbell,Carrickmacross,who tied with Constable Buckley,Monaghan,with a total of 41 each,but on a toss
the former secured the prize.
