I am trying to find out some information on my Great Grandfather James Croughan, I know he was born in Westmeath and he served in Co Roscommon for 30 years before retiring ,
I would like to know if there is anywhere I could find out possibly where in Roscommon he could of served and possible info on his career, as no body in my family knows anything about him.
Also I would like to know would an RIC man of resisided in say police houses in the town they lived or in private accomadation , and finally would any body be able to help me where I could maybe locate an obituary for him. As I would assume someone who had such a long career with the RIC would of had one in a paper or some journal.
