Posts: 18 28-Jun-2010 2:55 PM	1545 Medal - When a member of the Force in the performance of police duty displays pre-eminent valour and bravery, in addition to any other reward he may receive, a silver medal will be conferred on him,which is to be suspended by a light green ribbon. No member of the Force shall publish, or cause to be published, or by his indiscretion or want of due care, lead to the publication in any newspaper, placard, or other public print, of any letter,order,statement or return,or any extract, paragraph,or matter whatsoever, which he or any other member of the Force may have received from the Government or from the Inspector General, without express authority to that effect. 487 Newspapers, should it be deemed necssary to draw the attention of the Inspector General to any newspaper statement, the paragraph should be cut out pasted on a separate half sheet of paper,and forwarded. Should any occurrence other then an outrage,of an unusual or sensational character take place,the District Inspector,or Head Constable,or Sergeant,in charge should ,without delay,send a report of the circumstances direct to the Inspector General by post.When daily newspapers contain reports of some occurrences which are either incorrect or highly exaggerated,and consequently misleading,a correct account of the facts should, with as little delay as possible,be sent to head quarters.This should be done by wire,if the particulars are known,or by next post if inquiry must be made.( See section 487.)
