I have been researching my grandfathers history. Born 13 nov 1894. He was originally in Ireland before WW1 with British army Royal Engineers Signals  attached to 5th Div went to france in Aug 1914 one of the old contemptables following the war he went to Afganistan He returned to Ireland  RIC No 80548 Joined 14 april1921
Posted Co Mayo 7 May 1921 Disbanded 9 Feb 1922. I know he received punishment on Christmas eve 1921 punishment was a fine.
I would appreciate anybody who could add any details re his service in RIC
