In a previous post i spoke about my ancestor Paeden Lappin. I have now discovered that his son William Lappin from Kilkenny joined the RIC in 1880. He was only
in the RIC for about 6 years and then left to join the Western Australian Police where he moved up the ranks quickly to become an Inspector. I am at the moment
gettting his service records from their historical society. I was wondering if there was any information relating to RIC people joining the police in
Australia, would they have had a job with the Australian Police before they left Ireland? I presume although he joined the RIC in Kilkenny that he would have
had to be stationed outside the county
