My great great grandfather had a surname Lappin was from Armagh and was at one time based in Bennettsbridge Co.Kilkenny in the RIC barracks where he married
and I still live here today. I have found a birth cert of his daughter and in this he is called Peaden Lappin,but i cannot find any Paeden in the RIC,but found
a Eaden,so presume this may be him. The only twist is that i have some unofficial information that he died in 1883, but the record for Eaden in ancestry uk
site says he died in 1878.Im not sure what to do next and would be grateful for any information.

I can't find anything myself but try and get the record for 15865 - Eaden or Haden Lappin. If you have any local photos of whatever building used to house
the old barracks I'd be very interested.

Thanks for that Peter. The RIC barracks is still standing and used by the Gardai. I will take some pictures and send them to you. I found details for a Eaden
Lappin on the uk ancestry site, where did you find that record number 15865. I contacted the PSNI to see how i would get a service record,but got no reply. On
the ancestry site it states under enlisted: 1852 D 1878. I presume D is for died. The link you sent me was put up by a distant relative of mine,but he has the
incorrect name on it.
