Registered User Posts: 1 6-Nov-2009 12:20 PM	Remove this ad I've found several references to Captain Graham being killed in the Kilmichael Ambush, but the only place where I've seen his given name (Philip) quoted was by Peter Mc in his recent post at http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/ mentioning that Philip Graham is commemorated on CWGC. There's probably only a remote chance that we are related, but I'd like to know a bit more about him. My web searches so far have been pretty fruitless -- can anyone point me to sources where there may be more background information on him? Thanks in anticipation. Lindsay Graham Canberra, Australia

District Inspector 2nd Class Posts: 12 6-Nov-2009 5:28 PM	Hi Lindsay Philip Noel Graham.His service number was 72813 and there is guidence on this site to where you can obtain his service record.His DOB was 06/12/1888 and he was born in Berkshire,England.His cadet number was 274. Michael, where is the "guidance on this site to where you can obtain his service record"? I've not found that so far, and I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction. I've had very little experience with researching UK service data -- my first impressions are that it's a bit more difficult than here in Australia. My Graham forebears came from County Tyrone so it seems unlikely that there will be a link to Philip GRAHAM of Berkshire, but you never know <g>. My great great grandfather, Haman or Hammond GRAHAM, came from Artigarvan, near Strabane in County Tyrone and, in Feb 1855, was a Paymaster Sergeant in the 35th Regiment of the British Army. But I've not yet seriously researched his army service, so that's all I know about him. Look forward to hearing from you. Lindsay Graham

Service Records The original records were transferred to the National Archives in Kew, England and are found in the HO184 series. They can be viewed (usually in microfilm format) for free; however copies of the microfilms are held at several museums and by certain individuals, who usually make a charge for their service. I would recommend contacting the PSNI Museum at the following link - Police Service of Northern Ireland Museum . You may choose to use another provider, it is purely a personal choice. As Michael has said he was born in Berkshire; his home address was 14 Wooton Rd, Abingdon, Berkshire, and he is buried in that town. Probate was left to Charles Thomas and Herbert Francis Graham, presumably his brothers. Prior to joining the Auxiliary Division in August 1920 (3 months before he was killed), he had held the rank of Captain in the 11th Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers. He had fought in France since September of 1915. Peter Mc
