As part of the commemorations for the Coronation of King George V in 1911, medals were awarded to all of the UK mainland police forces and affiliated services, including the Royal Irish Constabulary. Eligibility for these medal was not confined merely to those who were on duty in London during the Coronation. In the case of the RIC it appears it was granted primarily for long and meritorious conduct, with the average age of the recipient being around 50. The medal was not awarded to the DMP.
