On 29th May 1922, not far from the Cullingtree Rd police station in Belfast, two constables were shot at by a number of gunmen. Constable Henry O'Brien was
wounded in the abdomen and left side, but died of his wounds the next day in the Mater Hospital. He was a 22 year old lad from Leitrim. His killing was one of
many carried out during the elections for the Ulster Parliament in May 1922.
