It is usually taken for granted that the Temporary Cadets of the Auxiliary Division had to be ex-officers of the British and Commonwealth Forces who had held a commission. There were some exceptions, for example the twelve officers recruited from the Mercantile Marine, whose expert knowledge with merchant shipping was so essential to "Q" Company's work in the ports. More unusual was the inclusion of a few enlisted men, of whom little is known beyond their service details.
No. 1196 Private T.J. O'Rourke, who joined as a Temporary Cadet on 8th Dec. 1920 and was posted to "F" Company. He was transferred to "I" Company on 28th May 1921. He re-engaged for a further term on 26th Sept. 1921 and remained with the Division until disbandment on 19th Jan. 1922
No. 1617 Private T.W. Reid, who joined as a Temporary Cadet on 28th Jan. 1921 and was posted to "Depot" Company, remaining with the Division until disbandment in Jan. 1922.
No. 1431 L/Corporal J.J. Dobbin, who joined as a Temporary Cadet on 5th Jan. 1921 and was posted to "Depot" Company. He was transferred to "Z" Company on 4th June 1921 and was struck off strength, when he became a Permanent Cadet in the R.I.C. on 22nd Sept. 1921.
No. 1986 Sgt. Major T.G. Moore, who joined as a Temporary Cadet on 19th May 1921 and left the depot for "R" Company on 21st May 1921, remaining with the Division until disbandment on 16th Jan. 1922. Before joining the Auxiliary Division he had served as a Superintendent in the Burmah Police.
No. 2154 Sgt. Major F.E. Higgins, who joined the Auxiliary Division as a Temporary Cadet on 29th Oct. 1921 and was posted to "F" Company. He served there until disbandment on 21st Jan. 1922.
There are probably more to be found, as many Cadets were listed in the registers without any rank being shown.
