I saw that two Christmas wreaths had been anonymously placed on the plot about a week before Christmas.

Wonderful. And a nicely maintained plot now.

I have to say it's vastly improved in most areas of the place. And the work is ongoing. Only 4-and-a-bit years before the Centenary of 1916, ye see..... But we'll have to see how budget cut-backs may impact on further progress.
There is also ongoing work between the Irish Office of Public Works & The War Graves Commission to put markers on previously unmarked British military graves. They seem to be sprouting up all over. Also, a British Wars memorial previously hidden away to the east of the new Museum and HQ has been relocated to a more prominent spot near the carpark. All due and deserved recognition. It is great to see the RIC and DMP plots both nicely refurbed and weeded, etc. Long may that continue. Just a shame the RIC seem still to have a lower profile, so to speak. DesW |
