hello i am looking for infomation on my great cousin who was a constable in fallcarragh his name was micheal cullitin i am lost on the census . i cant track him he dissapered around the 1900s

Have you got a date of birth for Michael or any indication as to what years we are looking at? Can you confirm his name is spelt exactly as Cullitin?

Out of sixteen Culleton's i know of who served with the Irish Constabulary, and they have five different or variant spellings of that surname, none spelt Cullitin, and only one Michael who may be your lost cousin and he was,---Michael Cullatin-48672.

sorry about his name i spelt it wrong it is cullatin he was from bushmills and he has a son buried in fallcarrah and one in long island cematary new york his name was cornelius he was born on 27 feb 1892 and another son who was born on the sixtenth october 1890 patrick joseph also a son born 23 oct 1893 and his wife was born on 14 march 1869 in clare and her father was cornelius murphy who moved to fallcarragh he was in the coastguard, micheal father is also called micheal address bushmills this is all i know i would like to find out what happened to him

I believe you have hit the jackpot and i can fill in gaps for you - in fact i beleive that we may even be related

Michael Cullatin is in my family tree, he is one for three brothers (the other 2 i believe had no decendants) who are sons Mary Cullatin (Nee Murphy) who is the sister of my Great Great Grandmother Ellen Murphy daughter of Cornelius Murphy.

I have pictures of Cornelius Cullatins Grave in Long Island - he served with the 18th Cavarly in WW I.

Michael died in 1894 in Crossroads, age 34 years. At the time it would appear he was still a serving RIC Constable.

This is very interesting. I had assumed from the earlier posts that this was Falcarragh but it is actually Cross Roads in Raphoe District. My grandfather lived in Cross Roads (age about 16) in 1894 and would certainly have known Constable Cullatin and attended any requiem or funeral service. The local church is St Patrick's, I wonder if he was buried there?

I also tried to contact Greenfields who started this topic, but have had no reply. I can only assume from their details that they are related

i have researched the records and spoken to the graveyard attendants and there is no record of any Cullatins buried in the Graveyard.
