Hi all, seeking information about RIC Constable Hugh Daniel Brien 62492. Joined the RIC in March 1907 and served in Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Achill Island finally in Belfast from 1914 – 1922 at Leopold Street and College Square barracks. Hugh lived in Dublin after disbandment and is buried in Mount Jerome cemetery. Hugh’s son Hugh Brien emigrated to the US in the 1950s and after serving in the US army, joined the US Border Patrol and eventually became Chief of the Border Patrol in the 1980s. Hugh visits Ireland regularly and has donated his Chiefs uniform to the Garda College Museum, so any information or photos that I could pass on to Hugh about his dad would be greatly appreciated.
