My aim was to help individuals who had a query on their ancestors Irish police background; in the early days there was little help available on the web and I could assist in small ways by using my own knowledge. Generally that was - stll is - largely limited to providing a police service number or perhaps some little personal detail such as location, any medals earned, etc.

From an Irish police family myself, I felt that the old RIC had received an unfair and biased press, forever being associated with events of 1920-21. I wanted to bring some deeper understanding and factual help to ancestral researchers, and bring discussion out into the open.

Personally I do not have any links to the Royal Irish Constabulary, but it is quite interesting to find out about it as I had little knowledge concerning it's existence or history.
