			<description><![CDATA[ Hi Colin and welcome. The John you refer to above most likely had the service number 25734 and would have joined the Irish police circa 1860, which fits all
your dates. Another John Haddock, 16705, joined around 1852. This may be no relation but its probably worth checking out. The service records will give you the
county of birth and (usually) marriage date. By all means tell us more about him when you can and particularly about his career in the NZ Police. ]]></description>
