At a meeting of the members of the Kerry force recently convened at Tralee barracks and presided over by County Inspector Warburton, it was unanimously resolved that a cycling and athletic club to be named the "County Kerry R.I.C. Cycling Club" be at once established. It was arranged to hold another meeting Saturday last to consider the establishment of RIC sports etc., under the auspices of the newly formed club.

Very interestingly, Rule 20 states that no married members be admitted to the club. It was through this medium, we must suppose, that Constable Thornton met his future wife, Ellen Markby.
